Love for My Kids
I don’t care any more that you make huge messes
at my house when we have dinner.
I don’t care if you won’t wear dresses
to church; it’s not like that makes you a sinner.
I don’t care if you don’t do extra math
homework for the local comprehensive.
I’ll wait patiently for you to take a bath
because I know you’re busy being pensive.
I don’t like how you’re a slacker
but I will allow for it.
I won’t become a firecracker
just because you’re in a snit.
I don’t like when you fight with each other.
That’s the worst crime you could commit,
hitting your brother.
Okay, NOW you’re in deep shit.
